How Sudhir Choudhrie Changed His Business Strategies With Taj Hotels
Sudhir Choudhrie is a well-known businessman based in India who overcome the odds to become who he is. At the age of 8, Sudhir was shocked by the discovery of a malfunctioning heart valve. His persistence to become the established businessman he is, saw him overcome his heart illness. After suffering heart ailment for a long period, he finally received a compatible donor heart that saw him undergo a successful transplant in 1999.
Early life
Sudhir Choudhrie was born in New Delhi India and raised by his mother alongside his brother. His father died at a younger age, so they relocated to his paternal grandfather. His grandfather was an established real estate businessman. Despite his medical condition, he was able to complete his graduate studies at the University of Delhi which curved his entrepreneurial spirit.
Establishment of business
His first business was in importing Television equipment from the United Kingdom to India. His business grew when he gained a contract to import the equipment for the Indian government. He later founded Magnum Trading Company that was mainly focused on India’s export market. Sudhir Choudhrie’s investments have made a great impact on India’s economy. For example, investment in Taj Hotels has greatly improved the tourist sector as the Taj hotels grew to be famous tourist resorts. He also invested in Air Deccan, which saw a great improvement in the aviation industry. This is because the airline was budget-friendly and encouraged the number of passengers to increase through the years.
Charity
He has become an inspiration to many being the longest survivor of a heart transplant for over 20 years. He and his family founded the Choudhrie Family Foundation that seeks to encourage people to become donors. It assists in the promotion of health education programs whose mission is reaching more willing donors.
