Robert Kraft
Robert Kraft is an American businessman who owns the New England Patriots football team. He has also been the owner of New England Revolution since 2002. He was born on May 25, 1952, in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA.
“Robert I.” Kraft was born to Irving and Maxine Kraft. He grew up in a middle-class family and attended Cape Cod High School in Hyannis, Massachusetts, where he graduated with distinctions, including starring in his final year as a quarterback and earning All-Star honors three times as a defensive end. In 1972 he earned an economics degree from Pennsylvania State University before transferring to Boston University’s College of Arts & Sciences, where he received his MBA later that year. He also joined the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity while at BU.
In 1976, Robert Kraft married Myra Hiatt. The couple has four adult children: Jessica, Daniel, Jonathan, and David. Jessica’s son Jacob is Robert Kraft’s grandson. Robert Kraft has four grandchildren (Jacob’s brothers – Chandler and Cole and his granddaughter, Lily).
In 1972 he started his finance career at the brokerage firm of Neuberger & Berman in New York City. In 1977, he was hired by former Penn State football player Gerry DiNardo to run the New England Sports Network business development department. Robert Kraft worked at NESN until 1985 when he launched his second career with a sports marketing firm. In 1986, Kraft switched to the marketing department of The Kraft Group, where he also found time to coach his son’s Little League baseball team. Later that year, Jonathan founded Championship Productions for Kraft and other friends in Wilton, Connecticut.
In 1987, the Patriots won their first Super Bowl during Kraft’s tenure as team president. The following season was his last working for the Patriots (he left in 1989). In 1988 he took over the ailing product line of a loss-making Kraft Foods, which his father previously ran. He sold about 70% of that company’s stock by 1997.
